Preliminary fish research






-Found only in Fast Waters of the Colorado River System in the United States.
-Hump on head directs the flow of water as a way to help maintain its position in fast  waters.
-Almost Scaleless
-Colors: Back olive grey, Green to silver sides, white belly. During Breeding males develop red tenges on the cheeks and venter.
-Declines in Population believed to be caused by Dams and the introduction of fish species (trout) which eat the humpback chub and parasites.
-Not a sportfish. Has kept fishers from getting on board with the repopulation plans.
-grow to 18 inches in length
-The Humpback prefers deep, fast moving turbid waters often associated with large boulders and steep cliffs.
-Diet: Small aquatic insects, diatoms and filamentous algae.
